Supporting Advancing Dementia to the End of Life (HE5 & HE6) (Validated by the University of Bolton)

Duration: 15 week module - 5 full taught days in first 10 weeks

Course Information

This module is aimed at health and social care staff involved in the care and support of individuals with advancing dementia to the end of life.  In the next 30 years, the number of people with dementia in the UK will double to 1.4 million (National Dementia Strategy, 2009).  The chronic and progressive nature of the disease trajectory requires practitioners to be adaptable and flexible in their application of palliative care approaches.  Therefore, this module wil increase the confidence, knowledge and skills of all practitioners, enabling them to effectively improve the quality of care and client experience for people with advanced dementia approaching end of life: and to enable clients and relatives wishes in accordance with the National Dementia Strategy (2009).
Assessment is by assignment and the production and presentation of a poster or resource.
