Symptom Control in Cancer and Palliative Care

Cost: This study day is fully sponsored by Central Cheshire Macmillan Teams, therefore there is no cost to staff working within Central and Eastern Cheshire including GP's. To other staff the cost is £70.

Course Information

The day will be a mix of discussion, lectures and workshops and will include:

  • An overview of the basics of cancer pain management.
  • Nausea and vomiting - neuro-physiological causes and optimum use of anti-emetics

Short "hot" topic sessions:

  • Constipation and diarrhoea
  • Fatigue
  • Chemotherapy induced or treatment induced neutropenia
  • Malignant spinal cord compression

Choice of 2 afternoon workshops which will include:

  • Treatment induced nausea and vomiting
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Difficult pain and its management
  • Confusion and agitation
