The overall aim of this module is to provide an overview of the principles and practice of palliative and end of life care to all health and social care support workers working in an area where they meet clients with palliative and end of life care needs. It is designed for care assistants, health care assistants and support workers. Assessment: Completing the assessments in this module is optional. For students who take the option of being assessed they are required to complete 2 assignments. The first one will be patient focussed and help you to develop your writing skills. The second will also be patient focussed and will enable you to reflect on your palliative care practice.
For those students who wish to take the option of being assessed they will be supported to develop their study and writing skills.
Clinical placements are arranged to link theory into practice and there is a period of "clinical facilitation" following completion of the course, where one of the teaching team works directly with the student, helping to support the integration of the theory into practice.
