Cost: £364 per 20 credit module for the 2011/2012 academic year
Duration: 15 week module - 5 taught days in first 10 weeks, 3 practice placements arranged by the student within the 15 week period
This module is aimed at all professionals involved in the care of individuals who have palliative care needs as a result of advanced progressive disease and are experiencing or have the potential to experience symptoms that impact on their quality of life.
This module aims to develop knowledge of the key principles of symptom management in palliative care and facilitate development of knowledge and ability to manage symptoms for the benefit of individuals and families.
This module will seek to develop confidence and competence in symptom management through reflection on and in practice and facilitate professional development through evaluation of the impact of this learning.
Assessment: an assignment which is patient focussed and a presentation (e.g. poster or newsletter) focussed on practice development.
