Cost: £700 per 20 credit module for the 2012/2013 academic year
Duration: 15 week module - 5 taught days in first 10 weeks, 3 practice placements arranged by the student within the 15 week period.
This module is aimed at all professionals involved with the care of individuals with life threatening illness and their families. It is particularly pertinent to those working in health and social care settings, especially those who want to gain a good understanding of the basic principles of palliative care and how they can be applied to practice.
The purpose of this module is to enhance and develop student's systematic understand of the key concepts of palliative care and to critically evaluate the knowledge and skills surrounding the effective delivery of palliative care within the practice setting.
Assessment: Two assignments - both patient focussed.
Clinical placements are arranged to link theory into practice and to offer the student the opportunity to explore specialist palliative care services.
